No boost ? -on 93 engine

Checked the archives, and nothing really in there to help diagnos this?

Prior to parking the truck, I had boost. It sat for a few days and started fine, ran fine. When I pushed the gas for some power, there was nothing there, - big dead spot with no power.

What the hell happened while the truck sat in the driveway? The check engine light has not come on? Could it be (really) bad gas? -or is the wastegate solenoid sticking? Did the pump take a dump?

Any good websites to show how to check the codes?
Anyone in Northern NJ have a diacom unit?

Only recent mod was a 3" exhaust from the downpipe all the way out, -but it ran fine with that set up, up to now.

Any leads, tips, advice appreciated.

Thanks, but I took care of most of the squirrels within a 50 yrd radius. (they crossed the line when they moved into my porch roof )

absolutly NO boost at all is most likely a loose connection somewhere between your turbo and your throttle body. also check your wastegate selenoid and actuator(sp?) to make sure the actuator isnt stuck in the open position.

Other problems could be the accuator has become diesconnected and the wastegate is open. If you going by the factory boost gauge, your MAP vacuum line might be broken and you truck is pinging and backing out a lot timing from the false MAP measurement.

I have seen moisture accumulate in vacuum lines freezing up, especially up north. also take the inlet off and make sure nothing has stopped the turbo from spinnning... I have seen a small plastic section of intake crossover tube get in the turbo (I still have the turbo with a chipped impeller to prove it)

I'll check thse things, but what I find peculiar is that prior to parking it - it ran OK.

When I say no boost, it's more like a choking similar to a flooding carburator, or if anyone has ever exceeded the RPM (rev) limit on a manual car (redline) it shuts down the gas or spark and flutters.

Other than that it starts and runs fine and free revs in nuetral without any burping or flat spots...

I guess I'll know soon enough?

This sounds like more of an spark/ignition problem to me.

You need to look at your boost gauge, if there's 0 boost you have leak between the turbo-TB, if you have some boost more than likely it's an actuator/wastegate issue, if it's making normal boost and running like shit, I'd start with checking fuel pressure and/or ignition.

This is probably not the case with your turbo, but i had a 83 Audi 5000 Turbo that the turbo siezed up after sitting over night. It had the same symtoms as your truck, revs ok but when put in drive and going down the road it had no power at all, at WOT it was going 50mph. My problem was a siezed turbo due to previous owner not changing oil. The oil supply inlet on center cartrich was a pin hole big

Replaced the turbo and everything worked ok, but like i sad that probably not your problem. I'll remove the hose between the turbo and IC and start the truck to see if you get any pressure from the turbine wheel (boost).
