i'm gong to be running a 4l60e in my s10 with a carbureted motor and need to find a controller for the trans, that can work with no tps signal or if i can bypass it somehow

anyone have any tips on what to look for and brand, or if someone has a good deal on a used one, let me know.

i kinda looked over the TCI one and it seems to be a nice setup but not so sure if i can use it on a carb'd motor

summit makes a manual valve body for the E tranny. the draw back it the obvious. .. . . .youll have to shift all the time.

i like the idea of a controller better because you can adjust line press as well as partial and WOT shifts. but it's something to consider, although i'm not a tranny man and install may not be to awful user friendly

I am putting an 80e in a 87 g body using a carb you will have to have some type of TP signal it is one of the ways the trans know how and when to shift. TCI make a remote mount tp sensor and contorller I got mine from george with prime gears here on the board

When I did my cummins swap on my Ford I started with a Bauman witch I figured out afterwards can only run the eletric mustang tranny and the guy I bought it from wouldn't buy it back then I bought a PCS controller, it has just about everythingI can run the Allison and the 5 speed Ford and dodge trannies.

You absolutely have to have a TPS signal. Its one of the main factors that the ecm uses to decide what gear to put you in and how much line pressure to create.

Just FYI its possible to use a GM ECM to control just the 60E as others have done with the 80Es. I managed to get one working with about $50 in parts from a u-pull-it yard.

Good luck,

You can buy a TCI from other places i just said george becuase he is a vendor here and he was cheaper than jegs or summit  and think TCI is now PCS I think

TCI 's and gm's controller is built by PCS. Buy PCS if you want enhanced tuning abilities, but don't expect a safe or "hot" mode with either.

I PM'd you back. I told you I could get you whatever you wanted. Just needed to know if it was carbed or fuel injected.
