mount questions

I have an ls1 swap in my truck, the pitch of the engine still seems a little steep to me, I'm not running a transfer case just 2wd so my question is.

Is there a height difference between the mounts on the transmission vs the syclone transfer case, would the transfer case sit the rear up higher or lower or the same?

Hopefully that makes sense to y'all. I don't have a transfer case available to see for myself.

Re: mount questions

what chassis do you have? a ty or a 2 wheel drive? pan? pics? did you use a Inclinometer and level the chassis and then use it on the engine/trans to see where you are at? It sounds like you have a sy chassis going by what you are asking about. Just abit vague on the question part.

Re: mount questions

I apologize, the frame is 4wd s10, using h3 alpha pan, I am currently not running a front differential or transfer case. My question concerns the mounting height differences between the 4l60 transmission and the sy transfer case.

The frame is on level garage floor, used floor jacks to ensure vehicle was perfectly level, I have not be used an inclinometer.

Re: mount questions

Is it more than this?

Of course I still have a puny V6 in my truck :p... If it is more than six degrees, I have another syty trans with the transfer case adapter as well as a 4L60 2WD trans that I got out of my neighbors totaled astro van. I tore it all apart to get familiarized with what it takes to overhaul one. I will have to dig both of them out and find the tailshaft for it to get a definite measurement if you still need it.

Re: mount questions

Can you post up some pics? Have you seen my pics with the engine in it? How close is the pan to the frame? I have the same mounts, the crossmember was wrong, had to redo it for the "better" angle.

Re: mount questions

Also curious to find a smaller intercooler that will support 700+HP. I've heard of some shop that makes some type of hybrid air to air intercooler that combines the two types into one freakishly well working unit.

Re: mount questions

I don't want to spend 1600+ on the race proven intercooler kit that is limited when I can buy an intercooler from tread stone for 3-400 and get custom piping all for less than $900

Re: mount questions

The engine angle in the picture doesnt look half bad, when you see it in person, you can really tell. I'm using an h3 alpha pan, its football field away from the frame.

Re: mount questions

Hmm, looks real close. Would you mind getting a measurement of that angle for me?

It's easier to say than do. With the tin off of it there was alot of room to take a measurement. That engine is buried pretty good , I'll see if I can get one this weekend or early next week. Trucks at my buddy's place as I have the Biscayne all apart.

Re: mount questions

OK, I didn't know if that was a recent photo or not. I'm unsure if the angle will read different on my Aeromotive rails vs stock but I'll get another measurement from on top of the valve cover just to triple check that its close. Im about to have headers made and this has to be right and where its going to stay.

Headers made? Ummmm can you do any fab work yourself? There's a couple sets of headers on flee bay in stainless that you can buy and change the angle of the dunp to work around the front diff.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-S10-Sta...es&hash=item257dd911a3&vxp=mtr#ht_2605wt_1028 drivers side has to be reworked for dump, pass side dumps too high up but can be made to work.

Re: mount questions

I can't fabricate. I'm actually having forward facing headers made for single turbo. Although current performance makes swap headers (non-turbo) specifically for the Ls swapped 4x4 s10s, they run about 3-400~and I think the fitment is pretty nice. I'm having them custom made because I don't want to have to relocate any of my front accessories.

Re: mount questions

My bad, forgot your going turbo. Why not use truck manifolds and turn them around and machine them for a v-band clamp?
