I'm waiting for the next version of Sy/Ty CD-rom to hit the market. But in the mean time i need to know if some one know or can check with the service manual if i can replace the motor mounts with out pulling the engine out. I looked at it and it looks like it going to be a bitch to do it with eng in vehicle, thanks for any reply.

I did a 2 wheel drive and it was a pain just to get the needed clearance to remove the 3 bolts out. I used a lift and a trans jack with an adaptor on the harmonic balancer. On the sy/ty the cross over tube would be in the way, as well as your 4 wheel drive stuff and your down pipe would have to be loosened also. I have mitchell repair on cd and it doesn't even discuss it. I'll look it up in haynes if you want me to, and email you a copy of the proceedure. Actually, I think I would just chain the engine down to the frame, it would be faster, cheaper and more effective, unless the rubber fell out... Let me know... Steve/ Dragrace55@Att.net.

my drivers side motor mount broke not too long ago, took it to Patrick GMC (5 star dealer etc.) and they had to hoist the engine to do it

I replaced mine when I had the tranny out a couple months ago. It is one major pain in rear to get them out without picking the engine out of the bay. It can be done with the engine in but I wouldn't do it again. I would unbolt the engine and lift it up if I ever had to do it again.
