Several of the guys around here run a monster transmission (mostly TH400s) in their offroad buggies (high horsepower applications) with good success. I've found it cheaper to source my own transmissions and have my transmission shop build it up to my specs.

There shop is down the road from mine..like 5 minutes away. Good guys there. Heard nothing but good stuff.

I run one of their SS Supeduty 700R4's. They built it to hold 650HP/600ft lbs of torque. It shifts way harder than the stock transmission. I also had them install a TCI constant pressure valvebody to keep from burning the trans up due to an improperly adjusted TV cable. They start around $1450, but when I was done adding options it was just under $2000 with free shipping. So far I am happy with it, and their customer service. On a side note I did go with the fluid they recommended (Schaeffer's Supreme) just incase this thing crapped out I didn't want that to be an excuse.

how long have you run their transmission and how many miles? what kind of power is your truck putting down?

I've only recently got everything back together, but I received & installed the trans back in March. I put about 60 miles on it so far. This Wednesday I'm going to the track to begin tuning (finally got everything installed that track tech requires). With all things considered I should run mid-high 11's if all goes well. Not sure on power, maybe 425-500?

I was just on lookin at their converters. Gonna give them a call on Monday to see what they offer/recommend for my truck.

There is not anybody that can build a weak little 700r4 that can handle 600 ft/ lbs.

Belee dat.

Somebody said they can build a sweet 4l60e but no evidence other than words.

A 4L60E is an electronically controlled 700r4. Same power limitations.

so did you make it out to the track on wed. I ended up taking mine last wed.

Yeah, made it to San Antonio Raceway and got six runs in. So far the best was 13:64 @ 95 MPH. That was running only 7.5psi with no meth and only 14 degrees advance. I ordered a spring kit for my wastegate. The RPM one I have only has a 6lb spring so that will limit me to 12psi max with the boost controller. Realizing this I called it a night, and will return with either a 10 or 15lb spring.
