Call up Nolan. He knows his way around 700s and you don't have to leave the country.

Re: Mega-Raptor (Level #4)

Most people haven't had much luck with the off the shelf transmissions, especially in the early years. SyTy are very hard on transmissions.

Re: Mega-Raptor (Level #4)

Well I should have the Tranny in the Typhoon in a week or so...And I can contribute some Info on how it is working. Hopefully in a very positive manner as it costs a good sum of cash. .....Paul30

Whatever you do, don't send them your old one as a core. You'll want to swap the valve body for the syty specific one in your stock tranny.

What seems to be the problem with the Valve Body in the coming Tranny? Thanks...Paul30

The syty VB is different than a normal 700R4, that's all I know.

the valve body is syty specific and without it you'll have soft shifts

Serious about performance
Re: Mega-Raptor (Level #4)

The SyTy valve body also has a unique calibration for our unusually LOW RPM shifts at WOT!! This is very critical for correct performance. But equally critical is the special 3-4 WOT upshift that is unique to the SyTy valve body and a few others. Without it, you'll be banging the revlimiter before you can make it through the traps. Not Good At All...

It is possible to correct these issues (I did it to mine, a 1985 totally NON SyTy 700R4) but I have never encountered a shop who knew how to do it. (I had to figure it out myself after one supposed "SyTy tranny expert" let me down in the worst way..)
