man, was I wrong

so Im leaving my house last night and my sy has had a clicking sound for a couple weeks now. I thought it was just the cv axles going. I leave the neighborhood and get on the highway. It really starts howling so I pull of right away and go a back way back to my house. half way there prop shaft explodes, parts go all over the street. Im scared to death the shaft is going to go through the floorboard. I lock up the brakes and pulled off.

I was just going 45mph. Going 80 or 90mph, that would of sucked. Loops are going on both drive shafts now.

damage is pretty bad, floorboard is pretty tore up, cross memeber beat up pretty bad, some wiring harness is tore up, shifter cable, e-brake cable, and my intercooler hoses that I ran to the bed.

so...anyone know where I can get a shifter cable? and drive shaft loops?

contact Hood or go into his new forum in the marketplace, he can get you a replacement shift cable for a decent price, way under GM cost.

You can get safety loops from Phil Chivers in TX. They are listed on the side under "Products by Phil Chivers". I have his rear safety loop but sold my propshaft one after I bought a Gilbert Heavy Duty propshaft over three years ago. Consider yourself VERY lucky that it didn't cause an accident or take out your transmission.

Hey guys. Is it a good idea to get a gilbert shaft for a stock truck? I haven't had any problems with mine, but I like preventative maintenance. I was gonna get safety loops, but maybe spending the money on a shaft would be better. What do you guys think?
