stupid question everyone, but how can you test to see if the lower heat exchanger is actually working or not???? i can never hear it at all, are you supposed to be able to hear the pump? and is the atr aux heat exchanger any good or not? thanks

Engine off, ignition on. Put a paper clip between the 'A' and 'B' ports (upper right port and upper next) of the ALDL connector. This will turn on a couple of device including your CAC pump. You can hear it (there are other things generating noise too, so watch out), or if you remove the upper IC's cap (engine should be cold) you should see the water moving.

ATR aux is a good thing, but you might be able to do the same thing for less with a tranny cooler.

also, look into upper IC to see if fluid is moving at all...stocker won't much much, but will somewhat...will tell ya if pump is working perhaps...

Do what Falco suggested :) . If you don't hear the motor running or see coolant circulating, check the fuse that is behind the alternator in a weather pack connector. HTH

Yeah, do what they said.

I believe people have gotten down into the 11's on the stock CCHE. From what I've read, the ATR seemed to be a lot of money for a little improvement.

Also, ATF and water/antifreeze are two very different substances. While tranny coolers will work as CCHEs, heater cores seem to work very well. They are designed for antifreeze, and their smaller size allows them to be placed in some odd locations, especially with fans on them. I believe Daron has/had Suburban heater cores mounted where the foglights were...
