the supra guys use them but from what i understand they are not great. I have never heard of anyone using them on this bb. Waller and hartman build great tranny's on this board and i think jesse builds his own along with blake. I don't know if they offer services to the public though.

FWIW I have heard the same about L10. I would say JWaller for your needs.

HARRRR!!!
I did a little research on Level Ten for a non-syty application. They didn't impress me much. I asked them several general questions in an e-mail

Are you part of http://www.atra.com/ or the http://www.bbbonline.org/
What experience do your mechanics have? What kind of clutches would you recomend in my application....etc....

The only responce i got was. "It'll cost ~$6500 to do what your asking."

They sidestep all my real questions. From what I understand it's hit or miss with them. The 240sx guys love em. So do most Ford folks. But Supra guys hate em'. *shrug* to each their own.

Does Hartman actually build trannies for people? When I looked into his stuff before, I thought he was basically just selling a parts kit with instructions. *shrug* Also, it seems he's been hard to get a hold of lately, and I've heard he charges quite a bit for his knowledge that comes with the kit (i.e. how much more the kit costs than just buying the same parts yourself).

No personal experience with Waller, but I've heard good and bad things.

Blake rebuilt mine. Cheaper than the price I got for Hartman's kit way back when, and it included labor and the converter. Mine's a stockish build, but I think most of the parts are the same as or similar to Hartman's kit I was looking at. It's sort of a spare time thing for him, so you may have to wait a bit for him to be able to do it, and he goes through it thoroughly, so it may take a little longer than others (I don't have any experiences with others' times, but Blake warned me that he might take a little longer than "standard").

I'll see if I can dig up the info I printed out from Hartman from before...

The time frame all depends on how bad your trans is. If you've had it previously rebuilt, odds are more harm was done than good if it failed on you agian.

He can turn them around in a couple days if he doesn't need to order a new pump..... thats the only thing that holds it up.

It all depends on the condition of the trans when he gets it. The best is to have one thats blown , but still all original (nobody has tried to rebuild it).
I've already heard of two horror stories of transmissions that Blake has gone through after someone else "rebuilt" it before him.

Blake does great work. He takes his time and rebuilds them on the bench, and you end up with basically a remanufactured transmission specific to sy/tys rather than just repairing the failures. You can also choose the parts you'd like to have in it based on how much HP you want.
Mine is overkill, but to me.... peace of mind is a good thing.

If you have any questions about my trans, or if you'd like more details, feel free to PM or email me.

The email was probably from Sam, the sales manager, who doesn't know dick about building transmissions. That's why he's in sales. You need to speak to Pat Barrett, the owner. Very pleasant to talk to and will answer all your questions.
