L-35 Head Identification

Just to quiet the the rumor that you can identify those heads by the presence of a knock sensor hole on the heads.

There is the picture of two lb4 heads. Note how one has 1 coolant hole and the other has a coolant hole and a knock sensor hole.

There's the intake ports on the same heads. You can clearly see that neither is an L-35. Yet the one head has a knock sensor provision like the L-35.

Dammit! There you go, bursting all our bubbles! :D
When I pull the engine, I'll have to check the heads on mine for sure now.
The best way for now to check is to look at the end of the head for L-35s. There is a small isosoles triangle relief on them at the joint where the head meets the block. LB4s just have a smooth surface there. Too difficult to find without a dental mirror and a bunch of degreaser :(
Thanks for putting up those pics!

Is that on the front of the heads? My girlfriend is going to be pissed when her dental mirror is missing :D

Im assuming that having screw in rocker arm studs and no rotators on the valves is a sign of L35s though??

Yeah this is kind of important to me as I wouldn't want to get kicked in the nads for racing in the stock class w/ L35's :)

The little triangle is on the front and back of the heads I have. You can't see it from the front with all the accessories on. I tried.
My L-35s do have screw in studs AND rotators. Hmmm. Friggin GM.

I seem to be seeing a lot of L35 head questions lately, and a lot of people seem to have missed this post originally...
