After spending around 7K to have my trans built (by me and another shop) a couple of times in Germany, It's still leaking!!!! :evil: I went down to the garage today to start up the Ty and noticed a huge puddle of Mobile 1 synthetic ATF under it. It wasn't leaking while I was driving it in October/November and it's been sitting ever since.

I'm guessing that it is the pump since I've replaced everything else(hartman kit). The thing that really sucks is, nobody I know over here knows anything about turning a wrench.

I know that my truck leaks down if allowed to sit for more than 3-4 days in a row. The check ball was removed from the input shaft last time I had it out and I think the converter is leaking down fluid enough to bring the case level up and it's leaking from the dipstick seal. I've replaced this seal and the pan gasket 3 times and still it leaks down. I've learned to live with it somewhat until I pull the trans again.

Not sure if this could be your problem, but I know if mine sits for a week, there will be a small pond underneath the truck.

Interesting. I had the same check ball removed and I've had the front pump seal replaced twice. Maybe it just leaks while it sits then?

When a trans sits for a while, the fluid drains back to the pan, and then the pan gasket will not take all the extra fluid. Put on a new pan gasket and take it around the block every so often to keep the fluid drain back from occurring. THis happens quite often, even to new cars at the dealership.

I'll repost this in the drivetrain tech forum. Don't know how to move it, sorry.

From what I can see, it looks like it's leaking from just above the pan. There is a drop on one of the pump bolts.

Check both the TV cable seal and the dipstick seal. I had a trans leak after it sat due to the seal around the TV cable being sightly torn.

Well, I've been starting it up every now and then and going through the gears. As others have suggested, it is probably just the fluid in the TC leaking back. I haven't noticed any drips in a couple of days(fingers crossed). Now I can focus on the damn heater core :evil:

He may have time to look at yours if you would like. I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but it may be worth it.

Damn that's cool! I'll definately give it thought. Overboost was over at the house the other day and we drove the Ty for about 35 miles or so and it didn't seem to leak at all. Just when the pig sits in the garage..go figure.

I don't think I can make it. It's kind of a long haul with an "iffy" tranny. I'm not going to take the chance. Thanks anyway.
