i have been fighting rough idle for awhile. i have found that my intake gasket is sticking out about 1/8" in the middle on the passenger side. it is in a tough spot but i found it with carb cleaner. my question is are there any tricks to removing the intake? also i was going to replace the intake gasket with the o-ringed fel-pro gasket. any thoughts and help? thanks guys.

Are you talking about the intake gasket between the upper and lower plenums or the intake gasket below the lower plenum and the heads? If it is the one between the plenums, what is the part number? Sounds like a good idea.

the gasket im talking about is the intake to heads gasket. i have been checking and it seems that only victor and napa ( same gasket) are the only people that make the teflon o-ringed gaskets. these are a must when you have aluminum to cast iron situations as they hold better. the part number is ms-16154. i was told this is a warehouse item so im going to get one on it's way and make sure it is o-ringed.

Thanks so much. I'm using the L-35s with the little notch at the top of the intake runner opening so they probably won't do me any good. Can you please email me and let me know how the plenum gasket looks(raised o-ring or not)
Thanks

Got one of my L-35s done(3 hours on one head) and a big tranny project is coming up so the remainder of the L-35 will be done in another month or so. I'm sure I'll learn some tricks then! I'd imagine once everything was off, you could take a rubber faced dead blow hammer(or a piece of 2X4 with a small sledge) and bump the upper manifold at an angle and it would come loose. I know you don't want to pry because you can damage the sealing surface.
