IC pump

I put in a jabsco pump to replace the stock one that didn't work. I would bet $ that it's wired in right. IC pump still doesn't work. checked the fuse in the pack connected to the bracket for the alternator (a red 10) and it doesn't look blown. Could it maybe be the relay switch on the firewall? is that the one on the right?

Anyone have any ideas?

How are you checking to see that the pump isn't working?

Do you have the turn on lead grounded? How'd ya do it?

Are you jumpering the ALDL?

Worse case scenario if the pump is wired wrong is it will just run backwards - which will eventually be bad - but for now that wouldn't be the problem.

IC pump

there is no visible movement when you look in at coolant, pump does not feel like it is pumping, and IC is hot .
Thanks for helping

You should stop your truck and jumpering the 'A' (upper right corner) and 'B' (next to 'A' in the upper row) ports of your ALDL connector with a paper clip with ignition on. If you can't hear your pump and/or can't see the water moving in the upper IC than you can start to diagnose your problem (don't remove the cap while the IC is hot!). In that case get a voltmeter and start from the generator with checking the where you loose the power. Fuse, relay, pump etc. The relay is the driver's side one from the middle two on the firewall.

What they said. With a stock truck, the pump doesn't come on until it hits outrageous temps. If you don't have a chip that changes that, you should T into the yellow wire on the passenger side relay, and ground it. That will make the pump run any time the key is on. Have you done something like this (hotwire or ALDL) to make sure that it's even turning the pump on before you check it?
