Ic coolant temp

I just wanted to try to hook my air conditioner up to to my IC system to see how mutch cooler it really would keep my truck. I take the lip of and the coolant feels like it is at about 50 deg. has a nice chil to it. Buy my Ic temp is still reading at about 100. is the water to air system that bad of a design or what? what causes this? is there anything i can do to make it transfer that cool water temp over to cool my IC temp?
