Hi Group, well during the xmas holidays, it seemed that the park position was getting further away and finally went south for the winter... IE: shifter cable died. Checked with my local GM parts person... New cables still available but wholesale for about $160 and list for about $220. Crap, I am not going to make gm any richer so I bought a 92 corvette auto cable and with a little work, made it work... it needs to be about 4 inches longer, but for only $45, I made it work. But, in my quest for something better and cheaper, I found that a hurst # 500-0029 cable is just what the doctor ordered... but the only drawback is, if any, is that it is 5 feet long... not a real problem and it comes with all the hardware to make it work. It has the eyelets on both ends and it is adjustable for the "deep" pan syndrome" that I have read about, IE: you can adjust this unit, at the linkage area to compensate for different pan depths. The summit part number is HUU-500-0029 and the Barnett number is HUR5000029. I haven't installed mine yet, but for only $40 plus ship, you can tell the general it feels alot better than the replacement that he reccomends... even without vaseline...
