How to change TV cable?

So I went to change my TV cable in my Typhoon, when I noticed that the service manual gives instructions for the 4L60 and not the 700 (and basically just says to unhook the cable as if it were easy). Nothing in the supplement for changing the TV cable, so I assumed it was the same. However, I really don't see how to get at where the TV cable goes into the transmission. I tried to reach up to the approximate area where it looked like the cable went, but I couldn't fit my hand between the exhaust pipe and the bottom of the tranny.

Is there some other way to get at the top of the tranny, where I assume this hooks in? Or do I have to drop the tranny/exhaust/something else?

Thanks!

PS does anybody have the correct length measurement for one of these cables? I'd love to be able ot verify that I have the right part without having to wait until I get the old one free.

contack George Blake. He makes the TV cables. I guess Gm does not make them anymore and he builds them as needed.

Longest TV cable made. 56". A universal cable will not be long enough. It's so long because the intake is rotated to the passenger side adding almost 2 feet to the needed length. The 4L60 and the 700r4 are the same. Some people like to call the 1986 and older the 700r4 and the 1987 to 1993 the 4L60.

Thanks, sounds like mine is the right length. Now how to I get to the transmission end of things to swap in the new one?

Re: How to change TV cable?

10mm bolt head on the flange that mounts it to the pan( facing straight down). kinda hard to see, i had to get mine off by feel. then disconnect it front the top linkage and slide the cable housind up and then wiggle it over the two 90 degree bends and off the linkage rod in the trans. no need to drop exhaust or trans, just kind of a tight space to work in... a 10mm shorty wrtench works the best.
