Help me identify this propshaft (pics)

I recently acquired this propshaft, and am trying to figure out if its a common one, or a locally made from a driveshaft shop.

The joint at the tcase looks about the same as stock. but the shaft itself at this joint isn't welded like the stocker...it just has a rib from the casting/creation.

This is the part i like, no boot, and a greasable joint. Also, the shaft can expand a lot further than a stocker....maybe this can be used for the 4l80e

Looks like a NAPA shaft. I went through 3 of them and they all vibrated like a blender. They also don't fit the front flange right. Instead of just sliding on, they have to be pulled on with the bolts. Probably why they vibrated so bad.

can you post pics of your napa shaft?

this shaft never vibrated, and fits fine onto the front.

Looks just like the one you have pictured. Unless they ordered the wrong shaft 3 times. Ended up making them give me my stock propshaft back and I had it repaired.

i'd tried ordering a napa shaft a while ago, but they said they couldn't get them anymore.

did you take pics of the napa shaft?

why not just get gilbert to make theirs a few inchs longer?

no reason at all. This one was available to me at a price i couldn't refuse....and i know for a fact it doesn't vibrate at all. If i ever go down the 4l80e path i'm sure i'd have a shaft made, and not use this.

Dude, if your gonna get a shaft for the 4L80E conversion, just order one from Gilbert and tell them to make it however much longer it needs to be. 3.25" or something like that. Look at Jeff Scott's thread about the 4L80E and it's in there. I didn't know you were doing that.

i'm not doing a 4l80e....well hopefully won't need to. I have a pretty new waller tranny that should suit my build.

As immobile as my ty usually is, it doesn't threaten to break the tranny :lol:

this shaft never vibrated, and fits fine onto the front.

And you gave Todd a hard time about his sticker. No wonder why this thing never vibrated.

And this thread could be taken and a whole new direction if someone isn't careful.

my stock propshaft went 4300 miles under my foot with no vibrations, and has been used on other trucks to test for vibration also, and never did.

this napa one has at least 25-30k miles on it with no vibrations ever noted by me or the previous owner. I have probably driven it about 100 miles, and been in it for way more.


As for todd....again, i'm not the one decorating my ty w/ ad's trying to boost my web page hits. :lol:
