So, I am going to remove my propshaft to either get the ujoints replaced, or buy another one. Anyways, I removed the 8 bolts (3/8 on the front and 7/16 in the rear -4 each) that I thought held it on, but it is not budging. Any hints? Am I doingsomething wrong?

give it a good couple whacks with a deadblow hammer at the front and rear

bigger hammer.

if you haven't already, mark (index) it so it can go back in the same position. Some people say its BS, some people say its important, but it takes 2 seconds either way so just save yourself the possible headache in the future.

if you have a brass hammer, try tapping the forward flange where they meet.

odds are everything it just "stuck", so once you get the front one undone, you may need to use the same technique in the rear or you can just wiggle it out of there.

Re: HELP! Can't remove the prop shaft

My u joints were bad on mine so I ended up get a new one from autozone for a 4x4 jimmy and its just like the jeep one everyone puts in. I have been running it for awhile with no issues. But yea you have to smack it off lol.

If you are going to pound it with a hammer, put a couple of the bolts back in loosely. I have had shafts pop out and fall.

got it off. Curious, my prop shaft is adjustable. Are they all like that? (meaning, you can extend it or contract it)

Combating adversyty.
Re: HELP! Can't remove the prop shaft

Does it extend and contract or can you actually adjust it?

The rear driveshaft is designed to slide in and out on the splines so I expect the same on the prop shaft. I think my Gilbert did something like that.

Seems like you can adjust the lengths
