Hi, i'm trying to get me truck running right after my rebuild. Here is my problem, i get to much knock count and cause of that the timing is pulled to much at boost over 10-12psi. Up to 10psi boost no problem, it's running strong as a m...f...er up to 10psi, i'm going sideways if i'm power braking and taking of with 3/4 throttle and 8-10psi boost.
It has been like this sense i started it after rebuild, my mods are:
030 over, speed pro 8.35 piston, L-35 rods, polished upper and lower intake manifold runners, portmatch all gaskets, 5-angle valve job, blocked EGR at bottom of upper plenum, true roller timing set.
Ultimate set on 15-T1
2.5 quart extra coolant for IC system, stock pump
Walbro 255HP pump, direct wire to battery
Ajust fuel pressure reg, set @ 50psi
High flow cat, (8 inch long) NO exhaust after cat
Stock turbo portmatched
KB fresh air system
180 t-stat
All sensors except IAT and knock is new (3000 miles)
O2 sensor (1 week old)
NGK Iridium plugs
Black Beauty wires
Brass cap and rotor
Today i was checking the ignition voltage in my DM, where dos it read the ign volt from? With engine normal temp and off the ign volt in my DM is 11.7 volt but on my alt it's 12.2 volt????
With engine running idle DM ign volt is 13.2 volt and alt is 14.2 volt.
I reved it up while i was logging and when i did a WOT flip with the throttle, you know a second or two flip, the rpm went up to 4850 rpm and i got a 9.5 timing retard in my DM and the speed went to 5 mph, the truck was in the garage????????????? I got a 2.5 psi boost reading like a split second before the knock count????
I also have a stumble or lack of power at a slow take off from a stop, like it's getting to much fuel or not enough fuel, but that's intermitten problem.
My EGT never goes over 1450 degree at WOT runs (probe is as close as possible to cylinder head and number 1 cylinder)
I have noticed on some of my WOT logs i get a 11.8-12.3 volt ign reading, but that's intermitten too???
I have some ideas where there could be a problem but i would like some others input in this matter, ok?
I have the same problem with stock chip, no difference at all.
1. I have a bad coil, going to try another this weekend
2. Pinched fuel line on top of tranny, going to replace them at christmas
3. IAT to high from insufficiant IC system (140-160 degree at WOT runs)
4. Bad ECU (PCM)
5. Bad connection to ECU (PCM) some where in the electrical system
Any ideas out there, i'm going crazy trying to find the problem?
Appriciate any suggestions, thanks.
