Hard Shift

just got a 93 typhoon and it seems to really shift hard between 1st and 2nd it accelerates strong as hell tho it just bangs hard during the sift im thinking maybe a motor mount or trans mount or maybe torsion mount? Any siggestions i dont really have a lift and dont want to take to a mechanic to just replace everything dont really trust to many of them out there these days.

1st to 2nd is supposed to be firm. As far as the banging sound I don't know.

its not a banging sound it just feels like the truck jerks you really hard from 1st to 2nd could be normal i dont know its my first typhoon just wasnt sure if it was normal it just shifts hard as hell between 1st and 2nd like i said im a newbie when it comes to this truck lol.

The shifts should be firm but not violent. They will be harder at higher throttle angles, especially WOT. Be sure the TV cable adjustment is correct, it can and will cause shift quality and timing issues, and can lead to transmission failure if left too loose. Usually a tight TV cable = harder shifts.

not too keen on it please explain how i can check it.

haha making me feel better was getting a lil scared thinking something was really messed up like i said im new and got alot to learn

Mine has a crisp to hard shift from 1 to 2, depending on the outside temp at start-up.

Firm shift is good. Under easy accel does it shift nice and smooth?

It may have a rebuilt trans with a shift kit in it?.....

2nd. Mins shifts hard from 1-2 and normal for the rest of the gears. Search the forum and you will see that this is said to be normal.

In all honesty, I think we either need some mph vs rpm shift numbers or a member should take this truck for a spin (and datalog) just to be safe. Shift feel is kind of subjective, one person may think a Grand-Marquis style shift is firm while another thinks a Corvette is soft.

You have a higher stall torque converter, so that will affect how your truck feels. My 2800 rpm stall has soften my part throttle 1-2 shift,

A stock SyTy will have a very firm WOT 1-2 shift. It will also have a firm 1-2 shift when you give some throttle. It should feel like it has a shift kit in it. In fact a shift kit like transgo's shift kit will soften the shifts. I would be concerned it if didn't shift firm. If it shifts late with little throttle and slams into the next gear that is a sign of bad transmission as well.
