Good WI trans shops?

SyTyless......for now!
I know, I know, trans shops should not be trusted with SyTys, but we're in a bind. What I'm looking for is names of good trans places that have done SyTy transmissions correctly, mostly between Milwaukee and Madison. We need to get the truck up and running ASAP, since it must fulfil DD duty for a little while, yet we don't have the time to pull the trans and ship it to a place like George Blake or Waller. What we intend to do is tow (read trailer or flatbed) the truck to a shop and let them do the dirty work. I'm holding out hope that its the governor gear, since it will **occasionally** go into 2nd.

Long story short, I'm looking for names and expierences with trans shops in SE WI. Input from you WI SyTy guys is appreciated!

TIA.

Re: Good WI trans shops?

The only shop I have heard of that supposedly knows there stuff is atd in menomee falls.

Sorry but not sure if thats the exact name, I know it used to be called hipsters.

I had a friend use them and i'm not sure if I liked what they did or not(lifted bronco trans) but they did charge if for things that to me were there fault.

I would recommend my buddy but I'm not sure if he would be able to get it done in time for you plus im not exactly sure if he knows everything about the trans for these trucks.

I had him redo mine but mine just needed clutchs and something else and to be cleaned so it shouldn't have been a problem for him. I have not drove the truck yet though so I am crossing fingers.

Good luck to you, and in my opinion I would pack it up and ship it to waller

Re: Good WI trans shops?

if im not mistaken, this truck is a sy with a zz4 crate motor in it???

anyways, i have a local guy just outside of madison 3 miles fromm me that has done 2 tranny's on different trucks for me, and he is priced right , and i would let him build any tranny for me, including a sy/ty tranny.

how's this for price...

92 gmc jimmy 700r4 4x4 trans removed, and installed in 2 days, for $950 cash with a new pump and a new converter, with a 1 year warranty.

this was done 3 years ago and the trans still shift's hard.

and a 2000 chevrolet silverado 4l60e 4x4 trans done in three days, $1000 removed and installed,
new front pump, converter, and all hard part's!! i fried everything in the trans,
only thing left was the case that was salvageable.
then he gets' it all together, and finds out that it wouldn't hold on an incline, tore the whole trans out, and found out that i had split the case at the back by the snap ring, DONATED A SPARE CASE, and re-installed in truck.

+the 1 year warranty!!!

also he did a rear gear install on another fullsize that i had for 225 +1 year warranty.

his name is chad, and his # is (608) 712-6258

tell him that clint reffered you thanks.

he told me 1200 cash on the bench, to build me the best parts tranny for my sy (-cyro) i assume.

with a 1 year warranty. and.... i told him i would be making 500ft lb's and be drag racing it too.
he still said 1 year unconditional warranty!!:D :D

then i said these trucks eat trannys, i know people that are on thier 4th 5th and 6th "built" tranny, and he still said... 1 year unconditional warranty!!:D :D

so when the truck need's a tranny were gonna find out how strong his trannys are.
