George, I have a complete engine and trans out of a 96 Impalla SS and i want to stuff it into a Ty. I have the Ecu and the wiring harness so install shouldnt be to bad. My question is. Will the Ty transfer case bolt up to the 4l60e the same way as the 700r4 or am i going to need an adpter. Are the lenths the same? am i going to need a longer Prop shaft? Id like to keep the AWD. If not im sure i can use the stock 700r4 behind the motor but how would i control it. Thanks

It will bolt up with minimal effort just like a 700.

You have a changeover year 4L60e. A 1995 or older will bolt right in as it has the 4 bolt tail end. Check it to see if it has 4 or 6 bolts. If it has 6 bolts, an adaptor will be required. It may be more practical, if it does have 6 bolts, to swap it out for a 95 unit so it bolts in easier.
