Front Differential Top Bolt

I have everything else ready to pull my front differential except the top bolt. I have a stubby 18mm wrench that I'm trying to get on the nut but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get to it. Do you get to it from the engine bay, behind the wheelwell splash guard or is there some other way to get a wrench on that bolt?

Re: Front Differential Top Bolt

Top bolt/nut on the drivers side? If so theres a hole in the bottom of the frame that the box end of a combo wrench will fit through so you can get the wrench on the nut. Roll under the truck on a creeper and look straight up at the bottom of the frame in the location of the bolt youre after and you'll see the hole Im talking about.

I just did this a week ago and it stumped me for a while until I noticed that hole the factory put there. Be aware that when you try to slide the bolt out it will just barely catch the bottom of the exh manifold (least on my truck it did). I had to use a die grinder and take a little material off the manifold flange where it connects to the x-over to get the bolt all the way out.
