Feeling real stupid (RPM lines)

Re: Feeling real stupid (RPM lines)

Well I guess I already have an aftermarket trans cooler. All these years I've had the truck and never really paid any attention to it.

I was thinking what I currently have was from the factory (thought the factory trans cooler was external vs what it actually is internal). Doing searches regarding trans coolers I didn't understand if what I had was actually factory why would I add another cooler (most common) versus just upgrading it. I don't think mine needs to be any bigger after actually looking at it.

One other part to cross off the checklist I guess. Definitely doesn't suck to have it.

Re: Feeling real stupid (RPM lines)

Do you have a transmission temp gauge? If not get one of those so you can monitor the trans fluid temp and how much the cooler you have is currently working.

Mine runs at 140° even when I get on it and beat around with it....it ran upwards of 200° with the factory cooler. Transmissions love to be cool and enjoy clean fluid. If your wanting to go the extra mile get a transmission pan that aluminum with fins to dissipate the heat or buy a derale pan like this.....http://derale.com/products/transmis...male-x-3-8-barb-90-degree-barb-fitting-detail

I did get the extra 2qt. Pan and they have a cooling deal with tubes that run parallel through the pan as air passes through they cool it even more they say. It also has a drain plug! Easy trans fluid change whenever you want!

No tranny temp gauge yet.
