exhaust housing

I have been thinking about this since the GLG, but not really sure what to do about it.

I have a te44 with the adapter to the downpipe, and was told by BG that I might be able to get PTE's exhaust housing and their downpipe to match up with my turbo.
What are some thoughts here.
Would I have to send them my turbo?
Should I just stick with my .63 housing since my motor isn't *built* up to really require a larger one and maybe just get an atr downpipe with their external wastegate.
Just thought I would see what you guys think.
I have heard that some of these setups with the adapters to the stock downpipes have leaked, I don't know if mine is but when you look at where they meet up on the adapter its pretty close.

Anyway just wondering what would be some solutions, there are probably many. I would like to keep the price down. What would be the cheapest and best solution.

Thanks,
Scott

hey Scotty;

I'd suggest the PTE setup. Cost and effort are my reasons. The ATR cost is higher for the DP and external wastegate, and it takes up a lot of room the way it's mounted. Secondly, to make it work correctly, YOU will have to port out the 3/4" wastegate hole in the turbine housing to 1 1/2" and correspondingly to the DP wategate hole. If you don't, you won't have boost control.

The PTE (altho I don't have one) will be a simple bolt on and I believe overall cheaper. Plus you won't be choked down by the 3 to 4 adapter. Just an opinion,

I'm assuming BG was talking about their 4 bolt turbine housing which is "sweeeeeet"!

Roland,

Thanks for the input. I would assume that your right about the PTE setup, for the reasons you have mentioned. I seem to recall that you didn't like the room that the ATR took up. Also, I would have to port the housing I have to match it to the ATR downpipe. Did you have to do that to yours? Is the wastegate hole on the PTE setup bigger than 3/4"?

I have seen the PTE setup on Jim's truck, and the part of turbine housing that bolts to the manifold is longer than mine. It actually makes his turbo sit up higher than mine. Something to do with how the exhaust hits the turbine wheel and what angle maybe???
I would like to get some more ideas here just because so many setups are different.
Does anyone think that I could get this done without sending the turbo off to PTE?

Thanks,
Scott

What about the "ford style" housing that ghettosled had for sale a while back.
Is that a good one?
Maybe that one with an external WG on the crossover and a 3" downpipe.
PTE's setup might be good if I went with their complete turbo/downpipe. The fact that I have a different turbo might cause issues.
Anyone that used to have an external WG setup that now has the PTE combo. Which did you like better and why?
