The Yeti
Got 1000 hp?
I had my rear pinion bearing fail 2 weeks ago and take out my carrier and limited slip along with the pinion. I searched and found that 4x4 blazer and bravada rear axles would bolt right in and just needed to match the 3.42 gear.
Only problem was that I had one pulled out of a 1993 4x4 and it was 5 inches too narrow and brought it back thinking they accidentally pulled it out of a 4x2. The salvage yard owner and I went to the back of the yard and checked 2 more 4x4 blazers and the only bravada he had in the yard and all the axles were identical to the one he sold me.
The other axle housing would bolt in, the difference was there was only 4 inches from the outside of the spring perch to where the brake backing plate would bolt on and my rear axle had 6 inches from the perch to the backing plate- my wheels would not have bolted back in because they would have hit the frame.
I don't need a rear axle now that we took both apart and made my origional axle work with the guts from the 4x4 axle I was origionally sold.
Anyone ever encounter this? The owner of the salvage yard computer showed the same axles that would swap over online but they were way too narrow and after checking other possible donors we were stumped.
