Personally I wouldn't as you are going to put A LOT of stress on the mount doing so since all the weight is going to be supported by the tail end of the transmission. If you end up tweaking something and get a driveline vibration in the future at least you will know where to start looking.

it wouldnt hurt . Although if its still attatched to the transfer case and driveshaft , then they will keep it from falling .

I set a steel bar across the frame, under the TC to support the weight. Just a little peace of mind for me.

I brace mine up on the 2wd, but on the AWD, there is enough weight in front and behind the crossmember that it doesn't stress too much. If it's out for more than a day or two, you'll want to brace it or tie it up.
