Dipstick keeps blowing out

I dont know why but whenever I get on it my dip stick comes out of the tube. I have a 93 style with the locking tab but for some reason it does NOT want to stay in, any thoughts?

Well for whatever reason yur making to much crankcase pressure. Do a compression check. Check plugs. Not usually a good sign unless for some reason the crankcase is not venting properly.

Gotta agree, not a good sign. I know a thing or two about crankcase pressure. I bet a compression check tells the story.

You're talking about the transmission dipstick, right?

Could be fluid overfilled, vent clogged, faulty locking tab, or elevated trans temperature (pinched cooler lines or blocked cooler fins).

Re: Dipstick keeps blowing out

I wuz wondering about that because of the "locking tab." Heat issue? Check level with trans hot on a level surface. Look for foam.

Easy one. The tab that holds the filltube/dipstick in isn't secured behind the top most bellhousing bolt for the transmission on the passenger side of the truck. That bolt doesn't have a flange on it like the other ones do because it uses the mounting tab of the fill tube/dipstick and clip for the wiring harness as a washer behind it.

OK, reread the post... I would suspect that the vent tube on the top of the trans may be plugged.

Fluid is always perfect, perfectly level and color is still a nice pink. Never foams. Im thinking maybe the seals on the dipstick tube are bad. BTW, since I posted this in the Drivetrain section, I most definately was talking about the trans dipstick, not the engine. It seems to have nothing to do with heat because it does it when hte truck was first started. Ill try and check the vent tube but I had put a new one in with hte trans a few months ago and everything still looks pretty damn clean down there.
