Can anyone tell me the difference between a regular chevy 4.3L and a typhoon 4.3L besides the turbo obviously and the heads, is there any other major differences?? Please let me know thanks Eddie

Well here goes....

The only real differences between a syty motor and a regular 4.3 TBI motor are the main caps and the pistons.

The pistons were different to accomodate a lower compression ratio

The main caps were made of nodular iron instead of regular cast iron to improve durability

Belive it or not the heads, cam, rods and everything else internal are the same as any other 4.3 tbi motor

You can convert them, I didn't have a choice since the original block was trashed.
I used the Milodon SBC kit. The two middle ones are converted to the splayed caps. For the front one I had them machine off the outside bolt holes and used it for a new front cap.

Next time I 'll just use a bowtie block and be done with it.

he he :D Damage is the correct word.

The caps were about $250

They charged me $500 to fit them. Of course there is still the boring and decking and prolly something else I can't think of right now. So I have well over a grand in the block alone.
