CV axles were do I get them?

When brake boosting I have some popping in the front end and was told it was the cv axles in the front. One is this true and if so were do I get new ones? Can I go to Auto Zone, Advance or Napa and get new ones? Are there any I need to stay away from and some I should look for? How much should I expect to pay? I am going to start getting everything together to rebuild the suspension, brake upgrades, and replacing the axles if they need it this winter when work slows down some.

I picked mine up from Autozone or whatever their name is in your area.

Ok cool so this isn't going to be some rare/hard to find part? That is what I was hoping for.

I wouldn't trust someone else's diagnosis of you pop unless it was by someone who knew these truck. I would hate for you to buy new CV joint only find out you need motor mounts or your front prop shaft goes out and take a bunch of parts with it.

The guy that I bought it from said that is what it needed and it has been doing since he got it. Coukd that not be what it is?You can really tell it when the fron suspension starts to load.

So when I go to purchase this part I need to just get some for a standard 4wd Blazer correct?

Try to stand next to the truck as you have someone turn slowly and listen. Or maybe find a shop that might do a diag for a fee.:2cents: Pull front wheels and check for leaking boots. And for sure check the boot on the front drive shaft. In a sharp turn backing up, the transfer case can make a similar noise. I'd be careful doing any more launches until this is found and fixed.

I planned to replace them anyway because I plan to rebuild the truck and make it as new as possible. So what I need to know is are they the same from the 4wd Blazer to the Typhoon and Syclone?

I have bought both napa and autozone. The autozone one started to leak around the boot clamp, as soon as I installed it. The napa one felt a little tighter (at the joints) than the autozone one. I would by the napa one when I need another.

Thanks I will be going to Napa to get some tomorrow. Are they very difficult to install?

yes I would use napa they will more than likely be a little higher but better for the money

I was going to put an oriely's model in a customers car it is was no joke worse than the one i took out cleaner but the joint would hardly rotate correctly or anything.

Stay away from Autozone - I've seen too many bad ones and I always ask where they got it from. Most of the time, the new ones that are bad are from a place like AZ. Even with the lifetime warranties, the best one is one you won't need. Go with the NAPA one.
