cv-axles problem!

well i replaced the drivers side cv axle and have been having problems it being to tight, the only thing i changed was the axle, no hub bearings, and it was real tight going on the steering knuckle, so i drove it and heard a loud clunking noise, so i replaced the axle again, and still tight but not so much clunking noise, so i ordered 2 more axles,and i replace it again, and this time replace the hub bearings, and it went on alot better no tightness, plus i even looked at both hub bearings, for comparision, and did see a little difference in the hub bearings, where the splines get close to the drive shaft, but drove it down the road, and can hear the rotor making whinning noise, like its touching and not, could i have messed a rotor, or the wheel, plus its still making a clunking noise, i cant hear it or feel it in the passenger side, since i didnt mess with that side, i have posted before about this, but seems nobody has that problem, im:rant::rant::rant::rant:

I'm having a similar problem with my sy, I replaced the passenger CV assemby and Timken wheel bearing. Now when I drive it squeals and there's a ticking noise related to speed and weight on the vehicle. I just installed a new super small high induction starter wrapped in heat protection and decided to raise the rear and listen to all four wheels. There's no noise at all in the air except the right front wheel doesn't spin very fast. I leaning towards differential problems which I haven't had a chance to look at but also the wheel bearing. The truck ran fine until the CV axle and bearing were replaced except for a ticking noise from a bad CV joint when turning. The funny thing is I'm lifting the truck under the control arms like it would be sitting on the ground but the difference is no weight on the wheel hub bearing. I think I'll pull the wheel bearing and put the old one back on since it's still in good shapoe just to see if that's the problem. I have no vibration issues and truck has been well over 120MPH.

I've read some similar posts but no satisfying answers. Anyone have a sugestion? BTW, the squealing gets worse with heat.

There is a spline inside the inboard end of the half-shaft (seems they call them axle's these days). Unbolt the the axle from the dif flange and see if you can pull the axle flange away from the dif flange at all. You should be able to separate the two by 1/2 - 3/4 in. If not something is haywire. :2cents: Wrong half-shaft maybe?
