ive replaced the vac lines, blablabla... 90% of the time when i try to use cruise control it will accelerate a little at 0lbs of boost, then drop to about -10, pull again, then drop, again, then drop... its enough of a notice to barely pull my front end up while on the freeway... any ideas?

Mine is doing the same thing. I haven't looked at it yet but if our cruise system is like other GM's of that era, it's more than likely a bad cruise control module.

It's been a while, but your problem is most likely in the control module that pulls the throttle cable. On the opposite end of the vacuum puck, take off the cover, there are 1 or 2 iron core solenoids that get corroded with surface rust and stick making the cruise control jerky. Clean the assembly and put back together using a light lubricant on the cores. Make sure everything moves freely.

Two notes - keep track of small parts and don't spray cleaning chemicals directly on the solenoid windings - you can destroy them.

Good luck - if you need more specifics I can look at it this evening.

Hmmmm, could this also be behind my cruise randomly shutting off? Going down the highway, sometimes it doesn't last a mile, other times it's fine for 50...
