Cowl Hood Insulation Question

I just puchased a use steel 2" cowled hood and it does not have any insulation on it. The stock insulation will fit but I was wondering if it is better to leave the insulation off to let the engine breathe better?

my vote would be to leave it off too, or get aftermarket insulation that can be contoured to the hood.

I think the insulation is more for sound deadining, I think w/o it will keep it cooler.
