Cost to Fix Front Diff/T-Case?

We test drove a local Sy, and everytime we made a moderately tight turn, the front wheels hopped. I guess either the front diff locked up or the viscous clutch has gone south. My Ty doesn't have this problem. How much does it cost to fix the front diff or the transfer case?

Probably viscous coupler. I am thinking one is $400 new for one. New chain probably be a good idea to put in while apart.

I bet a local would help you pull it apart richard, from there only 2 hrs to pull case apart, replace to coupler and be ready to install it back in. Should be maybe an hr to pull it from truck another hr to install it back.

Better off just getting A new one. I can get them foe $250 bux, all day long. & can ship them for $350

$250 for a brand new? Or used?

Problem with used in this case is it could be just as bad.

I am having the same issue as the OP. What year t cases are compatible, and is there any way to rebuild the stocker? Where would I even look for parts? Thanks for any help.

Bump. Need input if any other vehicles transfer cases can be used to swap, or if it can be rebuilt.

I just had my trans guy do mine in my syclone. 650 new viscous and chain 2 quarts of some crazey diff fluid. I de and re'd myself. All parts new.

Shouldn't need "crazy diff fluid", all it requires is ATF.

As far as compatibility, I **believe** that the same year (92 & 93) Bravadas use the same transfer case as the Ty, and the Syclones use the Astro/Safari unit. IIRC the spline counts are different between the two cases since they aren't the same.

Im also curious about this as my truck has done the front wheel hopping thing for a long time but now im getting some bad noises from under the truck when i put it under a heavy load. It sounds almost like the chain inside is slipping on one of the gears. I should have it out and apart this week to find out hopefully.
