Compressor Surge on Accell

at the top of 1st gear, i seem to get compressor surge.

Now, i've alwsys thought that surge only happens when you lift off the throttle. Mine surges as soon as i lift off the pedal.

but, at WOT 5000+rpms, i hear compressor surge.

any ideas?

my AFRs are right on target at 11.1:1. And i checked the log, and my RPMs didnt fumble.

It sounded almost like the motor was bouncing off a rev limiter. But it was a smooth RPM transition.

Only happened twice. I did several WOT 10mph-120mph runs after that, and it didnt happen again.

is it that or a lean engine surge?

so too lean would cause an engine surge? maybe 11:1 is too lean for my truck.

sounds like the spark was being blown out. check the gap and tighten them up to .028"

a true 11.1 is definately on the rich side for a/f!

i have them gapped at .035, i'll regap them.

Still dont have the meth on. What final (high boost) AFR be good? 12:1 ? i have ported heads with big valves, so i dont wanna go too lean.

Was the sound accompanied by a change in performance?

If this only occurs at the top of first I doubt it is ignition related. You would see the ignition problems in third before you'd see them in first.

both were on downhill runs, no change in performance, i lifted abit where i heard the noise, but when it shifted it went away.

i'll have to check my datalog, and see if/when the TC locked up. maybe that has something to do with it.

It certainly sounded like the compressor surge. But no stumbles in RPMs or kpa. Only making noise for a second. And not consistently, it was random, 2 times out of the 5 WOT runs.
