Clunky shifting when cold?

My fairly brand new Typhoon (26K miles) is having some interesting transmission issues...
When it's cold, it shifts extremely hard when going into 2nd & 3rd (it revs high first, then clunks and lunges forward)
If I drive it for a while, turn it off and on, the shifting goes back to normal.

Any ideas?

low on tranny fluid?
Change fluid, problem still there --->rebuild

Checked the fluids...didn't see any issues. Would it be the transmission itself or the TC?
Pretty noob related to transmissions...

fluid and filter change, with a bottle of red lubeguard, if that doesnt fix it,.........
