checking timing??

when i just put the timing light & see what the timing is reading, the timing mark is at the 12 o'clock position, is this about where it should be?? new to this turbo stuff, it states on the engine sticker timing should be at 0 , clear all codes & disconnect something i do not know what to disconnect? thanks

Howdy,

You have to disconnect the ignition bypass connector under the passenger side dash. It's a single tan/black wire with a connector on it. For me it's just under the carpit where the dash and carpit joins. If this make any sense.

After you disconnect it the ECM won't adjust the timing. This way you have to use your timing gun to check it. It's should be 0, the scale is on the harmonic balancer. It's scaled to 0-12 degree if I'm right.

You should also check it to TDC with a TDC stop.

disconnect it to check timing and re-connect when your done.

Never leave it disconnected unless your doing timing.

I think you need a scan tool to determine what the cutting out is really coming from..

What plugs and cap did you use? Are the wires any good?

Just some top engine cleaner and 1 or 2 cans of preasureized injector cleaner lowered my knock and help a bit with some hesitation probs i had...I actually ended up replacing my injectors, but notta clue if this is related to your prob.

i think you need a new fuel filter. you would be surprised what a difference this will make.
