Re: built transfer case

The main thing "breaking" in them is the viscous clutch component. When it ramps up to full hump(from fluid shear), the silicone expands from heat. There is an air gap(bubble) in the viscous housing. Once the heat and pressure gets so high, the viscous will crack like in the pic that Jeff has of Jeremy's transfercase.

Re: built transfer case

I had the output shaft break on my syclone transfercase. Hey George do you happen to have a spare output shaft that you would want to sell?

Re: built transfer case

I have a output shaft for a sy but not a ty. $225 shipped. why so much? cause I don't really really want to sell it but if you want it thats the price. hope this doesn't piss you off.

Re: built transfer case

Yep, see how the case of the viscous came apart at the rear?
I don't stock stuff like that anymore. I have a rack full of stuff that guys "swore" they would get, then I never hear from them again. If you want a true output shaft upgrade, get a Ty shaft.

Re: built transfer case

Hoovers broke a couple outputs when they went to the slicks. They changed to a Typhoon output and I have not heard anymore about breaking the outputs.

I had all the guts of my tcase cryo treated and I will be using a typhoon case in the Syclone.

Re: built transfer case

The biggest problem is the jerking. When the tail end bounces, it loads and unloads the drivetrain. The shafts are at the center of it and it's gotta give somewhere. The smoother the takeoff(suspension wise) the better the chances are.
