Boostin' question for the experienced

I am wondering if someone can elaborate how boost is handled in a stock truck with stock components. I was driving around today and this question just pops up in my head. Guess my job is second nature after 2 decades that the brain just wanders off.
I'd like to know how the computer sees it using sensors and how the wastgate responds to the computer's commands.

Re: Boostin' question for the experienced

The computer see boost through the MAP sensor (Manifold Air Pressure). The sensor reads pressure and vacuum. The sensor transmits a voltage signal into the computer.

The computer compares the voltage signal (boost/vac) against a table with preset boost control values.

If the voltage signal is not inline, the computer alters the Duty Cycle output to the boost control solenoid.

The boost control solenoid blocks sample boost pressure from the turbo, from reaching the wastegate actuator.

And when the MAP sensor signal matches the desired boost table, the wastegate solenoid holds that duty cycle. Which maintains a steady boost control.

Thanks for clearing that up!

More questions...
if the solenoid is disconnected, will the computer throw a trouble code? Solenoid disconnected, boost should match spring pressure of actuator. I suppose this could be used as a free valet mode?
