Bad stall converter?

I posted back about 3 weeks ago of my Typhoon taking a while to shift into drive.. here again are the symptoms.

When I go from Park to Drive, I have to rev it up to about 3500rpm for it to drive. Park to Reverse works perfect.
After the initial high rev to get it into gear it drives normal, can come to a complete stop and no high rev is needed again.
Put it back into park, then into drive (or OD, 3, 2, or 1) it requires a rev, although in 1 it seems to only take about 2500 to kick it into gear.
It only occurs when going from park to a forward moving gear.

The stall converter I am running is a used 3000 stall.
I had the pan on the trans dropped today, from that nothing appeared wrong but the transmission was not looked through..

Could it possibly be a stall converter issue? or most likely a trans issue?

How long has this problem been occuring? Did it start after you installed the TC?

Well something in the drivetrain went out tonight.. pulled out onto the road and while in 2nd gear the Ty felt like it dropped into neutral, I tried shifting it into each gear but nothing worked.. coasted into a parking lot and only the reverse works. Looks like the rebuilt trans and converter will be coming out soon to be inspected

thankfully my stepdad didn't mind me waking him up at 1230am to have him tow me home

GEEZ, sorry to hear about the trans

. Seems there is a small group of folks on here who are always broken somehow... I busted some hard parts when my first transmission went back in '02.

How did you tow it with a strap?

Just tied it up on the front and drove home very slowly.. I was only about 2 miles from my house.

Did you just wrap it around the front bumper a couple times? :lol:

I don't think a stall would cause the problems you are seeing. Sucks you gotta pull it man! Hope its an easy fix. Didn't Gerber have a trans for you too?

x2 for this failure.
Mine made a nice bang though when it hit second. And I only had reverse as well.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Only reverse, no 1st? Sounds like a pressure control probem, since reverse **usually** recieves full main line pressure, while the other forward gears are controlled via the TV cable.
