average oil consumption

What is acceptable oil consumption of a strong sy/ty motor/1000 miles?

I have a stock motor with approx 35,000 on it and it doesnt seem to consume any significant amount of oil between oil changes (3000 miles). Mobil1 10W-30 green cap. Although it is dark brown by the 3000 mile point.

i dont know what the average is, but believe it or not, the manufacturers say that "average" on any motor can be as high as one quart per 1000 miles hahaha that seems a bit excessive to me :lol:

200000 plus miles, no valve seals, eats 1/2 quart at least per tank when i beat on it!!
and lemme tell ta, oil is KILLER for octane!!
i plan on adding a quart or 2 to every tank after i replace the heads, just to get that lovely fog bank in whoever's face i just beat....
