This is what's currently going on with the upcoming for the SyTy Nationals. Please do not comment without reading this thread in its entirety, thanks.
First, for those of your trying to make vacation plans for work, please understand we have been working diligently since January 5th, trying to get everything ironed out. Most tracks that we have dealt with in the past will not take a deposit or book us until after Jan 1st.
Second, we always strive to put on the best event possible, otherwise why would be bother? This even has been going on since 1998, it has changed dates, locations and well as organizers. Despite those facts, it has not become any easier to get this event off the ground due to decreasing attendance and support. We know we cannot please everyone, no committee has been able to accomplish this, but we promise to do the best we can for the most people we can.
Third, we are currently waiting to get some information back regarding both the track and location. That could effect a lot of things including the date. Once we get this information, it will be made public ASAP.
Last but not least, it looks like we will be needing some "new blood" to help out with the event this year, regardless of where or when it takes place. Many of the crew that has helped over the past 6 years have expressed that they will not be able put in the hours needed to make this event successful. They have offered to stay on as advisers and support staff.
We would prefer to have members that have attended at least one SyTy Nats event, but we certainly won't rule out anyone from helping. For example, we are looking for 6 people to work the registration table, 2 on Friday afternoon, 2 on Saturday morning, 2 on Saturday afternoon, this way 2 people don't get stuck working the table all weekend and never get to have any fun. There are other jobs that need to be covered as well, so once we get the details ironed out, we will post up the jobs and see who is willing to step up. There is also a chance we may need a Co-Chairperson as well, someone who can help oversee the entire event as it takes place. This position will only be considered for someone who has attended Nats before and is a long term member of the community.
That is all for now, we will share more information as soon as we have it, please stay tuned.
