I am thinking about buying a Ty that needs some work, and my question to you guys is this. I have a 700R4 out of a 89 S10 blazer that has been sitting for some time now, I was wondering if I could put this tranny in the ty and be able to drive it for sometime? The tranny is out of a 4wd blazer and it still have the transfer case attached to it, obviously I would drain fluids and do a flush and filter before putting it in, but would it work and if so for how long does anyone think. The tranny worked fine when I pulled it and has about 100K on it. Please let me know guys thanks.

it will work, but for how long depends on you and your right foot......
1-2 boost launches = a blown tranny agian.
if you do, pull the little 2 prong connector on the top of the turbo,....it lowers the boost form15 psi, to 8 psi. it will make it live longer.

I agree, with 100K it might not even tolerate WOT run as well. 4x4 700r4 are for desperation when you need temporary fix to drive it under part throttle operation. You could try swaping the Valve Body, Spacer, Governor, TV pressure valve in the pump, and Servo. I am not sure I would even bother since it has 100K miles on it though.

I am just looking for a temporary fix, until I save some money to get a good tranny for it. Thats all, I do not plan on driving the truck everyday just on weekends and stuff like that, it is going to be a little project for me basically, I just have always loved these trucks and figured the price is IDEAL for this one so I can't really pass it up. thanks for the info guys I appreciate it.

you will need george blake's install kit. it is listed in his forum. it sounds kinda pricey, but i believe it is a well engineered and thought out kit. you will also need a trans controler. mr blake has all those parts. the 4l80 is the top tranny upgrade for our trucks.
