4L60 shift adjustment

Maybe I should post on the "S" board but I feel more comfortable here...

Ok, it's my understanding that the SoGT's did NOT have the 4L60e. They weren't introduced with the CPI until '93. I could be wrong about this, I just don't know, this is what I heard, but anyway.... here goes.

My truck seems to shift kinda soft. I'd like it to shift a little harder and if I dont have the "E" tranny to control shift points, is there a way to adjust it? I seem to remember back in the high school days that guys would mess with a modulator valve or something. I am ignorant when it comes to tranneys so forgive me for my lack of knowledge. Is there such an adjustment that I can make?

I've changed the fluid and it seems to pull hard. It's just the soft shift I don't like which I am sure robs me of valuable tenths. Heck, even the Aspen GT shifts harder. Is this an early sign of failure?

if it's the 700-r4 get the shift kit

replace your 1-2 accumulator springs with syty one. block the other one and swap out the 2nd and 4th servos. thats a real shift kit. no need to dork around with the vb and seperator plate, that should do you more than enough.

Thanks... Sounds like serious game plan. Is this something "I" can do fairly easy? It's probably time to have it rebuilt anyway but I was gonna wait until I do the full engine build.

Maybe I'll mention the changes to the tranny shop? Would they understand the reasons for doin this? Building the engine doesn't bother me but tranneys do for some reason. I guess it's because I have never seen one apart. From what I've read, it's mostly a matter to geting them clean and keeping the parts organized.

I seem to remember that someone on here rebuilds them... is that you J? Time to use the search feature I see. I'd like to have it done over the winter months while the engine is out.
