3-4 slipping

Looking for some thoughts to prove or dis-prove my theory/thought. So I leave this morning with the ty and all seems well. Go about 5 miles and meet up with some peeps to go to a show. We start heading up the road and I notice that 4th seems to be slipping. As I try to accelerate its climbing in rpm's but not picking up speed. So I drop it to 3rd and the same thing. So I immediately pull over and check the tv cable. Seems adjusted properly. When I pull out I notice 1st and 2nd are fine, its only 3-4. Oh yeah, stock trans, 3k hughes stall. So my thought is I wiped 3rd and 4th. Any thoughts? Maybe soleinoids, or valve body. Not real familiar with the internals of a trans. Thanks

Re: 3-4 slipping

it's my understanding that the 3-4 clutch pack is the easiest one to burn up in a 700R4, unfortunately its the most expensive pack in the trans, but unless it was a fresh build, they would all get replaced anyway.

there are a number of reasons the 3-4 pack can let go, overheating, poor line pressure or simply just age/use.

If youre having issues with 3rd and 4th, odds are its the clutches at this point.

Re: 3-4 slipping

Yeah, kinda what I figured. Its got 125k on it and with the recent engine mods and the stall I figured that's prolly what it is. Thanks Morgan. Time to start lookin for a replacement.
