27 spline

ok did alot of searching that has left me confused. 2wd 4l80e that have the long output shaft that can be cut down. are they 27 splines or 32. if they are 32 then i would need to make my ttransfercase 32. its has 27 splines right now. whats invovled in making the case 32 splines. this is on a ty.

I read your post 3 times and still don't understand....


Stock 4L80E's (both 2wd and 4wd) have 32 spline outputs.
Stock BW4472 has a 27 spline input.

To solve this problem you can:
1.) Buy a modified 80E shaft that has been re-cut to 27 splines
2.) Buy a custom BW4472 input shaft with 32 splines.

The 80E 27 spline shaft requires COMPLETELY disassembling the trans (output shaft is the first in / last out). BW4472 should be much easier to disassemble / reassembe, but I can't provide any input there, I haven't done it.

I changed my shaft in the tranny, other than the 10 minute ride to buy a tube of new squeekie cone(silicone) I had it done in less than 1 hour.

guess ihave problems communicating , at least thats what my ex said. but thanks for both replies, cleared up my confusion. just have 2 find out bout putting the 32 shaft into the transfercase. back to doing some searching.

Did you do the transmission or the transfer case in 1 hour? If it was the transmission, I'm impressed.
