I am bringing my truck to the track this weekend and my buddy has 3 gallons of 116 octane gas left that he uses when he races his motocycle. My truck is almost stock and i was wondering is I should run this gas in my truck. I am running 94 octane now. Would I see any differnece? I have a max of about 5 knock. Can it help to lower my knock? If i would use it do i have to use any additives?

if it is unleaded gas, i say run it!! yor knock will most likely go away completely, and your truck will run alot better. on the other hand, if it is leaded gas it might harm your 02 sensor.

Serious about performance
I ran 4 gallons of 110 Leaded race fuel and my O2 responded just fine afterwards but my spark plugs went from white to orangish-haze. Not real severe but a definite effect after only 4 gallons. My friend runs tankfulls of 110 at a time, quite often and his spark plugs only last a month or so. It will also neutralize your catalytic converter, so I heard. I would say it's OK to try once but I personally feel there are too many drawbacks to consider using it again on a fuel injected street car.

drain out all the pump gas till the fuel pump starts to cavitate, then fill it up with 4-5 gallons of the C16. Turn the boost all the way up! When finished, reverse the proceedure and put back in the 93 octane. Your cat/o2 will never know the difference, and your truck will run like a raped ape.

All the people who think otherwise, probably dont know cause they have never tried it.

reverse meaning take out the C16 by jumpering the fuel pump and draining from schrader valve. On the stock turbo 21-22psi is about max. Anything higher it doesnt do much b/c the air heats up so much and the turbo becomes inefficient.

On a PTE setup, 23psi would be nice as long as there is no knock. Go as high as you feel comfortable. With 23+ psi you will have to closely monitor your EGT, spark plug gaps, Knock, etc.

I have never heard of 116 octane unleaded gas, so it I'm sure is is leaded race fuel. True, it should help your knock and allow you to change your advance and turn up the boost. Your O2 will probably survive unless you run 116 all the time on the street (if you do, boy would I like to know what you do for a living to be able to run $4 1/2 P/gal gas! Do you need an assistants or any trainees?) It will NOT do your CAT any good at all. Turning the boost up that high on a stock turbo and disconnecting the CAT from what everyone tells me is dangerous for the engine and not the way to go. I just bought a PTE 52 kit with downpipe & 50# injectors to aovid the breakage problem that might occure with disconnecting the CAT and running race fuel with high boost, which is exactly what you are thinking of doing. (OK, to be honest I didn't only buy it to be safe, I bought it to go FAST!) What you're thinking of doing is something everyone has thought at one time or another. If you do please let everyone know how it worked out

Unless you have and ultimate chip so you can turn up the timing, and/or some way to turn up the boost 116 could actualy slow you down. Ive tried it on a stocker with an ultimat and when running t1-17 it actualy lost 2mph when compared to the 93. When I turned up the boost and ran T3 the damn thing would come alive and run 103mph as compared to 99mph. (bone stock with an ultimate and converter)

As for as the cat and the O2 sensor go. The cat will get hurt and your O2 will survive.

IMO I would look for some 110 unleaded and fill up, or just 1/2 tank if you want the wt savings.
