One of my friends has a 1991 Suburbuban that had catastrophic engine failure and he is going to get rid of it. it has a 4l60 tranny is a 2 wheel drive 5.7l drivetrain. he said i could have the tranny if i want it for free. what would it take to make it work on my typhoon. does it need to come completly apart to swap out the tail shaft to accomodate the transfer case. I am just wanting to put this in my ty for a temporary solution so i can drive it to point a and b while i am doing body work on it to get it painted over the summer. NO racing or beating on it. You may have read my other posts on this as i am searching for a cheap tranny i was just seeing if this could be a viable solution. Oh yeah and would i use the torque converter that is on the suburban or the one i got on my ty currently? Sorry if this all sounds like a stupid question but i don't see where there is a whole lot of differences if a 4l60 is the same thing as a 700r4 and a 4.3L is basically a 5.7L cut short of 2 cylinders, only real difference I see is it currently a 2wd tranny and the tranny is not a setup to handle lots of torque.
