Would this tranny work?

One of my friends has a 1991 Suburbuban that had catastrophic engine failure and he is going to get rid of it. it has a 4l60 tranny is a 2 wheel drive 5.7l drivetrain. he said i could have the tranny if i want it for free. what would it take to make it work on my typhoon. does it need to come completly apart to swap out the tail shaft to accomodate the transfer case. I am just wanting to put this in my ty for a temporary solution so i can drive it to point a and b while i am doing body work on it to get it painted over the summer. NO racing or beating on it. You may have read my other posts on this as i am searching for a cheap tranny i was just seeing if this could be a viable solution. Oh yeah and would i use the torque converter that is on the suburban or the one i got on my ty currently? Sorry if this all sounds like a stupid question but i don't see where there is a whole lot of differences if a 4l60 is the same thing as a 700r4 and a 4.3L is basically a 5.7L cut short of 2 cylinders, only real difference I see is it currently a 2wd tranny and the tranny is not a setup to handle lots of torque.

"The V8 and SyTy both use the same 'low stall' (1650) converter."

I think syty have a stock 2100 or 2200 stall converter.

I've had three SyTy with stock converters. The converters have little "7s" between the dimples. This indicates 'code E', 1654 RPM stall. The full code on the sticker will be DE*F.

The description in my ATC torque converters catalouge is; "#7 1654 RPM is a code E and is used in V6, 5.0L, and 5.7 gas".

I had a code B (2025) stall in my 92 for a while. DEFINITELY higher stall than the stock one had.

Yup, I totally agree the stock TC is an E stall converter. I posted this a while back.

The actual stall numbers are little different as I reference the GN page (its close enough)

How did you like the B? Was this with a stock turbo or additional mods?

Re: Would this tranny work?

I still got my stock converter and 2800 9/11 converter so i should probably go pull this tranny just for my purpose of driving the truck for awhile.
