i want to put 18 inch wheels in front and 20's in the back. has anybody ried this? if so what wheels and what is the widest i can go?

your ride is AWD. mixing rims does not go to well with that system. you could pull it of but you have to play with gear ratios and tire sizes. it is not worth the trouble to me. and 20's? man, those are going to be heavy! why not just get an escelade? lol

i am going for the show and not the go. i will never be the fastest and i dont have the money to compete and do all the upgrades

well if its for show are you selling your transfercase, and front differential. lol. the truth you dont need anymore money to make it go fast. it already is. but hey, if it is all for show i can respect that. good luck
You are going to run into issues running 20's and 18's. There was a Ty in SloCal that was running 20's all the way around - and it my mind it was beautiful. If it were me I would stick with the same size just to keep it simple - there is no benefit it going with different sizes front to rear.
make sure the outer diameter of the tires are the same. it should work. otherwise you can remove the front prop shaft and run seperate diameters front and rear. this makes the truck rear wheel drive only. if you do any extended driving with awd and different diameter tires front and rear your gonna burn up the transfer case. also its gonna put unusual stresses on the drivetrain. might cause serious trouble.

I ordered Hamann HM2 18x8.5" rims for my Sy and they're due to arrive within the next two weeks. The offsets are correct (13mm rear, 38mm front) and the wheels weigh 24 lbs. each. Performance will be better than with my stock rim/tire setup since the overall tire diameter is shorter than stock. I'll be using 255/35ZR18 tires all the way around. I wouldn't go any bigger than 18" with our trucks though unless you're strictly into show. I saw a bunch of trucks with 23" rims at the GoodGuys car show in Pleasanton last weekend. Those things look cartoon-like!

www.completewheelsource.com. I can get them for you at near dealer cost. I just put a set of 20" Rozzi "Deep" wheels on a full size extended cab and they look great (I can send you a pic) but I don't know about 20's on a S-truck.

Your going to run into serious issues with 20's as far as clearance for the cladding. Most likely, youll have to trim the insides of the front wheel cladding. Still, I think your likely to come down hard on the suspension once and graciously remove a piece. That is unless the wheel tire combo you can find will be equal in overal diameter to the factory combo.

20's on a Sy/Ty will require a Very low profile tire. Ride will be hard and a pot hole would be expensive. But if looks are everything and money is no object then it's possible.
BTW, someone told me they saw a navigator with a set of 26" spinners at Black Bike Week in Myrtle Beach a couple weeks ago. That's probably $3,000 per wheel (without tires).
