Things I learned:

1) no auto parts store near my house carried my plugs.

2) no mater how much you tell them, they need to know the cars info. " no, I need a 1996 starter"

3) original starters are tight in the sy's.

4) The remote solenoid will not work on a 1996 454 starter.

5) yes, that purple wire was toast.

6) The KB battery relocation to bed was not that hard to get to.

7) Optima batteries are $$$$$.

8) I love the sound of the 454 starter.

9) boy there is a lot of oil under a 15 year old truck.

10) being a awd really makes things hard to get to, But I love my TRUCK!!!

BTW, how come my turbo is so quiet.?? or is the atr exhaust just thaty loud?

Re: things I learned today.

I had quite an educating day as well. I learned that......
  • A 1992 Typhoon underhood wiring harness and a 1992 Chevrolet 4x4 V8 pickup underhood harness really aren't that different.
  • The fiber / insulation under the carpet in a truck that has not seen the road in 6 years can still be wet (scary, huh?)
  • When you remove every wire from the engine compartment, there is quite a bit more room.
  • It is easy to run the wiring from the speedo sensor and TCC along the floor inside the truck, and down to the tranny.
  • I didn't learn it, but I found almost $3 in change taking my interior out.

$3 is that it? I found $12 in change in a part Sy and $15 in my old Ty. In the part Sy, the previous owner aparently left change around the interior. I found that typhoon's seat belts mounts can hold quite a bit of change, they seemed like change dispensers...

Please tell me you are looking for the NGK plugs and not the garbage AC42 plugs.

Re: things I learned today.

I wanted the NGK UR5's. The guy kept asking for my truck info and I said NO I want these plugs. Every store had to order them. When I had my sy up I took a look at the passanger side plugs. They look easy to get. I forgot to look at the driver side. Is it as easy. I have the cool 5/8 plug socket and a 10inch extension. Truck still misses at high RPM. almost feels like it it dropping in and out of OD. I will change the plugs and see.

When I first bought my 57 chevy from my mom. I tore it appart and found about 10$. also found a rool of film. I developed it and it was of me 25 years ago. I was 7 or so and helping my dad work on the car.
in my Sy I found the previous owners check book.

Re: things I learned today.

as far as doing the spark plugs one of those wobble spark plugs sockets really makes a big difference on both sides cause the number three is behind the steering shaft and the number four is behind the upper shock mount. and as far as finding stuff out at parts stores it's usually better to have a part number to start with than to spend and hour hunting for the part and tryin to cross it to something else
